Watching the US election online today I had a thought. At this stage all Obama needs is Indiana and he can call Connect Four!
Maybe if the US did that they might have at least half the people turn up to vote. Everyone likes a good game of Connect Four right?
Unlike popular opinion it is NOT compulsory to vote in Australia. It is however compulsory to turn up on the day and have your name marked off. It's kind of like going to school, you have to go but you don't have contribute. So in that sense you can do whatever you want once you have your name ticket off the roll. At least we have a democracy within which all people can know that have had their say on election day, even if it is just a doodle of a donkey on the voting card.
