Ok so i've been invited to present my thesis to an old research group. man, how do i compress this sprawling mess that was my thesis? rumour is that some chick in the government who is all into my old research area will be there, so aiming to impress and get some job contacts. had a meeting with a old colleague who marked my thesis (thanks for the killa marks!) which was productive. had a massssaive break between my temp job finishing and the meeting so i went to the library to see if i could find any new info to back up my thesis findings. turns out in 3 months since i was working on it there has been an explosion on the topic. and guess what, all my recommendations and findings in la thesis have been confirmed. i found all that out in 2 hours of library research. it's all to easy. but that's what 6 years of uni does; turns you into a pro, whoring your research wears. i didn't even notice how natural it was, i of course felt sick once i'd realised what i i'd done. once you learn the tricks it's hard to leave. kinda like the mafia that uni deal. hard to get out, i seems always end up pointing back in that direction. i mean even though uni is becoming more and more "vocational / privatised / rich people only" there are still gem moments. example...
whilst waiting to score a lift to the station with my colleague 3 arty people were just chilling in the hallway of this old building that echo's heaps. one on guitar, one with a drum and the other with a really old school south american flute. normally you'd be screaming try hard hippies right? but they were not out for potential in peoples face. the building was closed (it was late) so it was pretty much empty. i just hung around, they didn't mind, waiting for my lift. i then worked out, they were recording the sound on a MD. the place had this amazing cathedral sound-space. i was tempted to ask for there contact details so i could get a copy but my pimp ride had arrived.
oh well with VSU, the death of a few years of creative freedom and thought is assurred.
temp job at uni is great, most people are ok but no enough arts students come in... mostly law and something degree people. yawn. never-d-less i've been called a number of things doing my job, (cause i seem to have a nack of making killa timetables, comes from my days at uni avioding
doing more then 3 days of it) these include:
and my personal favourite was
still havn't been called an arse yet, but i live in hope. A colleague got asked if it was ok if some chick could kiss him. she was pretty hot, i'd have asked for a lap dance instead.
anyway, my timetables have been called:
i wonder if i could put that on my CV as proof of my strong customer focus, "i have a strong customer focus having been awarded the shiz medal for killa timetables". bwwwahahaha
running into people catching the train and being around uni again. saw guy from my primary school who's in a 'killa' (hehe) band. was meant to see them live on wednesday but mwp had some things on i needed to be around for, + i stuffed up dates again so had double booked myself. anyway, he said it was kinda good i didn't come cause they sucked that night. turns out it wasn't because of artistic diffs but rather just practical stuff. hope it gets sorted cause i really think they could be a good band + i wouldn't mind seeing them live!
oh and for all you liberal voters who did so in the last election because you are stupid and are suckers for fear advertisments. I have two words for you:
