one cannot create happiness with air and beer

is it a vain attempt to recapture those moments in life were chilling out was natural in summer? todays email...

hi all,

as per our dicussion over some beers on a very very hot monday, i have been researching the paddle pool we intend to install at simons (sorry **** you were elsewhere so have been duly informed now; being the temperamental biatch we all love you hereby void all your expected comments that our idea is shit but are welcome help make our beer fueled idea become reality and partake in any hot afternoons in the pool drinking beers whilst watching sport, movies etc on the big screen TV)

*4x3 meter pool (square shape) are available from all good K-Marts and Toy stores ($49.95 to $70 depending on pattern, the dolphin one is more expensive but would ensure ***** never got it). I will see if we can get any bigger but entering council fine territory.
* ***** advises that 4 people can comfortably kick back without bodily contact
****** advises that up to 11 people can fit with a lot of contact, she said so with a raised eyebrow so take that how you want (see no sex sign below)

what we need to get this operation underway (the overarching theme is 'think like a uni student... cheaper=better)
-coin ($20 each should cover us)
-water... lots of it (draught..what draught?)
-BBQ (check, ***** got that once covered)
-Pool
-some Kmart sieves (about 2) to clean pool (est $1.20 or free if anyone has some spare)
-rubber mating (about 30 cm squared more then pool itself... we need soft edges cause u know leila will fall over. est cost unknown, anyone got some old gym mats?)
-some plastic bowls so we can float food around
-esky
-water proof holders for cameras
-second universal TV remote (that goes in the above item)
-old body board (check, ***** got that covered)
-random floaty toys (check, ***** got that cover, still got some under the house from our old above ground pool)
-"no sex in pool, but diving ok" sign needs to be made (sorry but it's for hygiene reasons...not trying to stop fun hence the [not so] comical diving reference... this includes your dirty **********, we all know who *****)
-tarp to cover it at night
-salt water pack (***** advises that chlorine will do the job, if done in the right amounts a pool will one summer in which case i'm sure ***** has some spare)
-beer and then some
-ice (i intend to play ice cricket at the opening so a bat too)

*****, the ***** who's own paddling pool inspired this idea, has accepted the offer to do the opening ceremony and drink our beer.

known isses;
-rear projection TV is on wheels so it will move but will it be visible with natural light? if this is true this idea could be dead :(
-inflating the pool. ***** advises going to the local servo, but she warns that you'll need four people to hold onto it on the roof if your driving home. i figure just walk it to the 7/11 and bounce it home.
-we need to name the pool something, we can debate this on first dip.
-running issues.

ok i'd better do some real work...please reply all to the pool project manager with ideas, suggestions and comments. we can have meeting about it on a hot day with some beer.

don't get me wrong, i'm totally into this idea and i'd be cool to make it happen but it just feels somewhat contrived. like this kinda the summer thing to just end up in a situation and about 2 months latter go "that was a really good summer". i think i'm trying to grab on to anything that'll bring happiness but truely i'm just not all that happy inside.

or maybe not. whatever.
